Supporting families facing the loss of a baby.
Mission Statement
The Emory Foundation supports parents and families grieving the loss of a baby by providing local resources and funding programs that assist the family before, during and after the loss.
What We Do
The Emory Project at Cottage Children’s Medical Center
Working in conjunction with doctors, nurses, and hospital staff, the Emory Project is a program improvement initiative focusing on the support the hospital provides to families before, during and after the loss of a baby from viability (24 weeks) to under 1 year old.
The Emory Foundation Fund
Part of the “Family Assistance Fund” at Cottage Children’s Medical Center, the Emory Fund is a separate fund for parents who cannot afford to pay for burial or cremation of their baby. Families in need can apply for financial support and the Fund will pay the mortuary directly.
The Living with Loss Group supported by the Emory Foundation at Hospice of Santa Barbara
Hospice of Santa Barbara provides free grief counseling and support for parents and families grieving the loss of a baby. The Living With Loss parent group meets once per month and is a chance for parents who have lost an infant (birth to 1 year) to meet with a Hospice counselor and other parents. The Emory Foundation supports this group both financially with donations to Hospice and by encouraging parents to meet with caring grief counselors.
The Emory Foundation Scholarship
Administered by the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara, the Emory Foundation Scholarship will be awarded to a student from Santa Barbara County who is specializing in pediatric or neonatal nursing or a postgraduate student focusing on a pediatric-related specialty.
Funding
The Emory Foundation is proud to be a beneficiary of the Santa Barbara 100, a world class cycling event that donates all profits to local charities, www.sb100.org.
